In the first three years at Nendrum College pupils will receive one period each week (35 minutes). Pupils can then opt to study BTEC ICT, OCN ICT or OS Office Tech at GCSE level.

Unit 1: The Online World External examination  25%

Unit 4: A Digital Portfolio Internal assessment 25%

At KS4 our pupils follow the Pearson BTEC ICT Specification. It has been developed to inspire and enthuse learners to become technology savvy;  give learners the opportunity to gain a broad understanding and knowledge of the Information Technology sector and some aspects of the creative industries;  give learners a more focused understanding of Information and Creative Technology; explore the fundamentals of technology and gain the practical skills, knowledge and understanding to design, make and review; encourage personal development, motivation and confidence, through practical participation and by giving learners responsibility for their own projects; give learners the potential opportunity to enter employment within a wide range of job roles across the Information Technology sector and some aspects of the creative industries, such as Software Engineer, Website Content Manager, Computer Animator and Graphic Designer.

At KS4 our pupils follow the OCN ICT Specification. Today’s work environment depends increasingly on a range of technologies. The OCN NI Level 2 Certificate in Information Technology Applications are designed to provide learners with the IT skills required to function successfully in the work and wider environment. This subject is 100% portfolio based. 

 

Occupational Studies - Office Studies
Unit 1: Using Office Technology 50%
Unit 2: Communication in an Office 50%

At KS4 our pupils follow the CCEA OS Office Studies Specification. This unit provides learners with a basic knowledge and understanding of administration practice together with the skills necessary to pursue careers as secretaries, administrators, receptionists or call centre personnel. Learners will have the opportunity to use a range of technological equipment found in the modern office. They will develop their proofreading skills, ensuring all documents are produced to the highest standard and meet agreed specifications. This subject is 100% portfolio based.
