At some point during their school lives, many children will suffer from a learning difficulty. For most, the problem will be remedied by some careful explanation, but for others the problem may be more permanent.

At Nendrum College we aim to provide a safe and effective learning environment for all our pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs.

Our emphasis is on creating a positive atmosphere in which all pupils are content and prepared for learning to take place. We provide a welcoming environment for all pupils, at the same time recognizing that each pupil is an individual with differing needs.

The term Special Educational Need may refer to difficulties associated with:
    • Cognition and Learning including Dyslexia/Dyscalculia
    • Social Behavioural Emotional and Well-being
    • Speech, Language and Communication Needs
    • Sensory Impairment (Hearing/ Sight)
    • Physical Needs

Medical conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) may cause a pupil to have special educational needs in relation to one or more of the categories above.
